Behold, the purple hair

Though I’ve never personally met any of Michelle Wolfson’s other clients, I consider several of them to be good friends. Fellow client Linda Grimes calls this “Agency Sistahs,” a term I quite adore.

Last summer, one of my Agency Sistahs, Kiersten White, decided to tempt fate. She vowed that if her book PARANORMALCY sold, she would embarrass herself by dyeing a swatch of hair a bizarre color.

Since I’m a bit superstitious myself, I joined her in the pledge. After that, my Agency Sistah and I cheered each other on from afar, each of us hoping the other would soon have the opportunity to humiliate herself with ridiculous hair.

Kiersten had the chance to make good on her pledge when Michelle sold PARANORMALCY in an amazing deal.

Now it’s my turn to do the same.

Behold, I give you evidence of the purple hair:

YAY! I'm so proud of you! And I'm still so freaking happy for you! Michelle and I talked about you today : ) I'm so, so thrilled. And the purple looks AWESOME!

It's you! I love it. :) Are you wondering why you haven't done this before?

And what a conversation starter:

Stranger: "Why on earth do you have that purple streak in your hair?"

You: "Oh, that? It's just my 3-book deal streak. I'm a soon-to-be-published author. All the best soon-to-be-published authors are doing it."

Nice! Love that you went for the top streak instead of hiding on an under-lock. Purple, such a lovely shade for spring. Do you have to keep it for as long as your books are in print? ;D

Kiersten, talking about me? So that's why my ears were burning! Thanks for the kudos (and for the idea to color our hair in the first place. I kinda like it!)

Linda G, LOL! I've never done anything to my hair besides trim it, so this is a big deal for me. So have you decided yet what color you'll use when Michelle sells YOUR book? :)

KAK, good question on the "rules." Will have to check with Kiersten White for the official word. Perhaps we should consider making sure our agent writes this into the contract for future clients.

Thanks for reading, everyone!

It's so hard to decide! Something that looks purposeful, though, like yours and Kiersten's. I wouldn't want anyone to think I'd had an unfortunate accident. Or worse, that I am merely an incompetent hair-dyer. Maybe I'll put it to a vote when the time comes.

Too cool on the purple hair! Remind me never to take a dare about hair color from you guys! Any change to my hair would upset the delicate equilibrium of The Husband! He's still getting over the fact that I whacked mine all off a decade and a half ago! :-)

Linda G, my hairdresser had a lovely shade of vibrant blue that would be just perfect on you.

Cynthia, I'm not entirely certain Pythagoras would have noticed the purple, had I not pointed it out to him (and forced him to take pictures, of course).
