I am NUMB with desire

When author pals release new books, I am delighted.

When author pals hold creative blog contests to support the aforementioned author pals releasing new books, I am downright orgasmic.

Thank you to Sean Ferrell and Harley May for making me all sweaty and breathless before breakfast this morning.

Sean's debut novel, NUMB, will be released by Harper Perennial next week.

In celebration of that, the foxy terrifying delightful Harley May is holding a contest in which one lucky winner will receive a signed copy of NUMB.

Harley May (the wench) has already had the pleasure of reading the book. In addition to gloating about it posting her review of it on her blog today, she's challenging readers to recreate scenes from NUMB.

Obviously I haven't yet read NUMB, and I'm declaring myself ineligible to win the contest since I was the victor in another recent contest held by Harley May.

Nevertheless, I couldn't resist the urge to play.

Behold, I give you my version of three scenes from NUMB:
Locked in a cage with a vicious lion.
Pythagoras volunteers to have a nail driven through his hand.
Who's that handsome man on fire?
(hint: his name starts with "Sean" and ends with "Ferrell")
Want to take a shot at the contest? Head over to Harley May's blog and learn all about it.

Or if you just can't wait to win it, go pre-order NUMB. Do it now.

Then go drive a nail through your hand and light yourself on fire.

Your vicious lion looks about like mine...

I saw Sean's "enhanced ebook" NUMB advertisement a few days ago. I'll definitely be picking up the book once it hits shelves, but contests aren't really my thing.

This book is getting a lot of buzz! I'm gong to get the Kindle book - so Ferrell can complain about my reading speed :-)

No, Tawna, No.

I told people NOT to light themselves on fire or drive nails through their body.

Now they'll sue you.

And that is one hot pic of Sean.

Thanks for advertising.

You're too funny.

HAHA! I love Matt the Cat's role as the lion.

Ha! Perfect. I sure hope Sean's NUMB can live up to your interpretation of those scenes!

Okay, we want more.

More scenes from a book. How about next time you do one of yours. That will give us all something to look forward to.

You never disappoint!

Love this. Great pics and definitely a book I need to add to my TBR pile.

I absolutely love when animals get that "people are weird" judgy look. Secondly, I'm with Kelly and think you should now recreate scenes from everyone's books, but mostly yours.

I love this! Great job, Tawna...

I'm at work, busy trying to get out of here early to see Sean at Paper Cone Stories tonight.

I need time to brainstorm... I also need brain cells to brainstorm but that's a post for another blog. Or a blog for another post?

Anyhow, great pics!

Love the ketchup, er, blood!

LadyGenette, by the time my husband released us from the cage, my vicious lion really was starting to feel a bit vicious!

Charmaine, no joke, the buzz surrounding NUMB is making me very excited to get my hands on it. I pre-ordered it online awhile back, and I just checked the order again this morning to make SURE they haven't forgotten!

Harley May, dammit, I always confuse "Do not" with "Do." This is why I will never succeed in life.

Matthew, there is no such thing as too funny in my line of work :)

Candyland, I probably should have removed Matt the Cat's collar so he looked more lion-like, but he's still very fierce.

Linda G, I'm sure when I finally get to read those scenes I'll be going, "what the hell was I thinking?"

Kelly, true story, in the first 3 or 4 books I wrote (all targeted at the Harlequin/Silhouette Bombshell line that bought my first book) I would name a character some variation of my friend Larie's name and then kill that character somewhere in the book. She used to threaten to come to my book release party dressed up in a way that demonstrated her violent death.

Lynda, sometimes I do disappoint, but this is why Pythagoras isn't allowed to blog.

Dawn, yeah, I'm pretty excited to read NUMB. It helps that Sean Ferrell is a pretty good guy, too! :)

Elizabeth Ryann, I get the "people are weird" look from my pets on a daily basis.

Patty, oh man, take LOTS of pictures for me tonight! And have fun!

Jan, what, you don't think that's real blood? I considered cocktail sauce, but the ketchup was the first thing I grabbed.

Thanks for reading, guys, and don't forget to enter the contest!

Fantastic shots! Love your lion.

PS--If you have a chance, stop by my blog to pick up an award :)

I vote for the cage picture as your new user pic. ;)

Cool pix - loved the short story by Sean Ferrell.
I see you have 3 books coming out in 2011. Do you have books published already?

Elisabeth Black said...

Awesome. I love that you lit Sean himself on fire.

TAWNA FENSKE said...

RosieC, aw, thanks for the blog award. I'll let you pet my lion. Wait, I didn't mean...

Sierra, I might just consider the cage pic for my avatar. At the very least, it should go on my website.

Clever Betty, welcome to the blog! My debut will hit shelves August 2011, with the other two books in my contract slated for January 2012 and August 2012. The August 2011 release (MAKING WAVES) will be my first published novel, though technically it's not my first SOLD novel. It's kind of a long story, but you can go here if you're curious:

Elisabeth, LOL, the man on fire pic was actually a last-second addition after Harley May pointed out that I might as well make it a full set. My husband had to assist, and told me he felt a little bad about taking a lighter to some guy he's never met. He did not, however, feel bad about locking me in a cage.

Thanks for reading, guys!

Tawna - Good for you for supporting Sean's upcoming release.

Sean - BEST OF LUCK! I'm so happy for you and will help spread the good word. ;-)

No offense, but my toddler looks much cuter in a crate than you do. ;)

I am getting this book!

I'm a little freaked out by the photos...maybe a disclaimer is in order, assuring us that no writers or animals were injured in the creation of this blog post!

TAWNA FENSKE said...

Debra, if there were only one copy of NUMB left in the world, I would fight you to the death for it. I'm just sayin'.

Posey, post photos of your toddler in a cage and we'll have readers judge. Wait, could you get in trouble for that?

Julie, I can assure you the animals weren't harmed. The humans? Well, let's just say we're all in therapy now.
