And the winner is…(it's all about balls)

Well that was another rousing round of What the @#$% is that? with several of your guesses making me giggle, and some just making me glad you don’t know where I live.

In case you missed it, here’s the mystery object from Friday's game:
In order to identify it for you, I'll share the conversation that took place when I found the object on the kitchen counter.

Me: What is this?

Pythagoras:
It’s a transverse colon.

Me: I see. And why is it on the kitchen counter?

Pythagoras:
Because I had to move it to get to the pyloric sphincter.

Since that was clearly the only explanation required, he wandered outside, possibly to bury a dead body in the backyard.

For those of you who are curious, this is where the transverse colon came from:

I’d like to say the whole thing would be less weird if you knew what Pythagoras does for a living, but it really wouldn’t.

Nevertheless, it’s time to pick a winner. I’ve gotten the feeling you guys tune in more for the winner selection process than for the actual contests. If you’ve missed some of the previous ones, go here and here.

For this round, I started off by creating a list of all the entries, making sure to double up for those of you who earned extras from Thursday’s blog.

Then I gathered up a whole lot of balls.
Balls, balls, everywhere balls.

Every ball got a number that corresponded to a name on the list.

To see how things unfolded from there, you’ll have to watch the video below. You might want to turn up your sound a bit to compensate for the windy conditions and the fact that my camera sucks. Alternately, you can go straight to YouTube and watch it there, since the quality is sometimes better.

So congratulations to Danica Avet, a regular blog commenter, and author of paranormal and contemporary romance with a touch of Cajun spice! Danica, email me (address is in the sidebar at right) with your address and I’ll get your bounty of writer snacks out to you right away!

Thanks so much to all of you for playing! We’ll do it again the next time Pythagoras leaves something weird lying around the house.

Scratch that. We’ll do it again in a month or two.

You're hilarious. Love the idea and video!

Yannoh, a truly loyal Agency Sistah might've rubbed a bit of bacon grease on a certain ball before tossing them all out there & leaving the winner to the whims of fate. Just sayin'... ;)

(Congrats to Danica!)

Bwahahahaha! So my super secret dog attractant works! *rubs her hands together with a maniacal laugh* Next, it's going to Gerard Butler's house...if he has a dog who likes to play fetch.

Tawna, that was the best video evah. I have tears, really! And woo-woo to me!

Bwahaha!! That is the BEST blog-contest-winner-picking strategy EVER! Seriously, it made me giggle out loud.
Anyway, congrats to Danica. ^_^

What a beautiful dog! I love how the dog couldn't decide which ball to pick up at first.

Penelope, thanks! Pretty soon I'm going to run out of pets to use in contests!

Linda G, bacon grease! Why didn't I think of that? In all honesty, I had to check beforehand to make sure she didn't have a strong preference for one type of ball over another. Didn't want it to be unfair!

Danica, congratulations! We actually did two takes in the filming because there was a minor camera glitch, but yours was the very first # she brought me, so that's what I went with to be fair. There was also a pre-filming experiment where I threw all the balls just to make sure I could do it and the dog just stood there and stared at all the balls like "what do you want me to do with THAT?"

Bookwyrme, yeah, unlike Matt the Cat, Bindi actually knows how to bring the object back in a game of fetch!

Neurotic Workaholic, your handle is actually an apt description of Bindi! Herding dogs are insanely task-driven, so this little challenge was right up her alley!

Dawn, she's a very sweet little dog, that's for sure. Everyone assumes she's a German Shepherd puppy, but this is as big as she gets (30lbs, approx).

Claire Dawn, LOL, I'll leave you guys guessing about his profession!

Debra, a girl can never have too many balls around, can she?

Thanks for reading, guys!

HA HA HA!! that was great, you are very clever Tawna! Well done to Bindi for being such a good winner-picker!

Very cool! What a cool way to pick a winner.

Harley May, aren't my balls lovely? Did you have any idea I had so many? I figured you'd be impressed.

April, unfortunately, I'm going to end up disappointing everyone someday when I run out of ideas and just draw a name out of a hat!

Sierra, can't you tell Bindi put a lot of thought into it? :)

Elana, Bindi is prancing around like a movie star now, calling me "dahling" and smoking these skinny little cigars. Damn paparazzi won't get out of my yard.

Thanks for reading, guys!

That is so great! I love how the dog couldn't decide which one to bring back. Mine will actually fit two balls in her mouth...pun intended...and bring back whichever fit. Love the animals, and I can't wait for your books!

P.S. I knew it was a colon! Why didn't I enter?? LOL
