Ever notice how "fabulous" and "disturbing" are sometimes eerily similar?
I considered asking one of my housemates to judge the entries, but a new one just moved in Saturday and I'm hesitant to scare him the way I did with the other guy.
I tried to get my dog to judge, but she wouldn't stop licking the computer screen.
I decided it's best to go ahead and put the vote to you guys, my fabulous blog readers. I was going to omit the names of the contestants to keep things fair, but at least one of the entries makes it pretty obvious. Besides, since when is life fair?
So here's what we'll do: I'll stick a little clicky-box poll at the bottom of this post. Vote for your favorite entry by 8 p.m. PST on Wednesday, June 15. I'll tally them up in the evening, and will post the winner on Tuesday. That person will receive the ARC of Making Waves.In addition, I invite you to leave a comment telling me why you voted the way you did. OK, I think Kim sort of deserves to win because how the hell did she contort herself into that position in order to take that picture??? Plus the idea of a life-sized Kim and that mini-man is just totally cracking me up.
But I had to give the win to Jenna for that awesome tagline. If only it weren't too late to really change it: "Sex on land is for losers..." I LOVE IT!!!

I voted for Jenna's. The quote - hilarious. The tagline - great! It was just too good to not vote for it.
They were all wonderful in their own way and certainly Jenna's was the most professional-looking. However, I voted for Haley's. The casualness of it, the blue whatever the hell that was representing the boat (Is that a LEGO flat piece on top?), and that Post-It note was the final touch that did it for me. Plus the dolls still have their shoes on; they are so hot for each other they can't bother taking them off! Accurate without too much effort did it for me. This was a flash of creative brilliance, acted upon immediately, and not overworked by later touch-ups.
I agree with Matthew, since I believe the contest was to recreate the cover, but the other entries were very creative!
Michelle's is my fave because those action figures REALLY seem to be enjoying their boat which is in keeping with the spirit of your book!
However...kim should get extra credit for incorporating aquaman who has probably never seen that much action except from dolphins.

I loved Jenny's entry. It actually looks like a book cover, and the tagline and the quote both cracked me up. They were all fantastic, but since Jenny made me laugh, I had to vote for her.
I voted for myself because I really want to win that book and I'm too poor to buy it because I spend all of my time creating fake book covers (which doesn't really pay all that well). Is that bad?
ROTFL!!!! I love them all and yes, it was difficult to do, but Aquaman was worth it!!!!!
Just when I thought I couldn't laugh any harder about the cowboy boots with the spurs, I realized Michelle's cover reenactment features none other than WOODY the cowboy sheriff.

They were all creative and funny. For me, it was between Harley & Kim. However when I went to vote for Kim, it told me I already voted. Which I didn't. I swear I didn't vote yet. I'm too technically inept to fix this, though. H
